(similar sub plot device used in ringu, so use the same motife, but not emulate…oohhh, maybe re-visit brian cox in horse harness?)
technology advances to the point that people can now capture thought images on film
our story starts at the beginning of this technological evolution and is only available to the medical community, specifically a psychologists aid. much like a sleeping aparatus for people with apnia, one might be fitted with a machine that captures thoughtography.
man/woman starts seeing images that complete stories and starts wondering if he/she is living a dream or dreaming a life.
then reluctantly moves to small town and falls in love with pretty ambulance driver.
p.s.: also mix in one of stephen kings stories..the shining..monkey shines?
p.p.s.: make sure it is directed by tarsem singh and does not cast j.lo. or possibly that prick alex proyas and definately re-casts jennifer connoly.
p.p.p.s.: don’t get hopes up. will likely wind up as m.o.v. with tori spelling.

After his research into ‘cognitive imagery’ goes horribly wrong resulting in the death of a colleague a scientist returns to the small town he grew up in.
Seeing family and old friends begins to bring back memories, becoming more vivid as time goes on.
A chance meeting fans the flames of an old love (pretty ambulance driver) and begins to rebuild his shattered life…but the flood of pleasant memories turns sour when the presence of his dead colleague begins to invade them…is it just guilt? a natural result of the death of a friend…or something more terrible?
Does he have the courage to return to his disturbing experiments….even if it means saving the life of the woman he loves?

don’t forget that all vivid memories and presence of dead colleague will need to tie into somehow images of the dead colleague showing up on un developed film. maybe OH wait! his dad (passed away, suicide..which was a scandal and why he moved away in the first place), which he did not have a good relationship with and has never come to terms with his death owned the local photo store. he goes back to re-open it (loads of creepy dusty old shop shots).
images of of the dead colleague keep showing up.
in the end he cannot distinguish if the dead colleague is back or it is the experiments that have changed him and he is creating the images.
in the end he has to fight for the town he so hated and after a reprieve from the medical community decides to stay in the town that he now has come to love.
last shot is a pull back from the photo of him in front of the shop with his lady and on it we also see (obi wan) his father..ahhh

what kind of festival should the town be having while he’s there?
Josa Porter Today at 11:33am

i LOVE it
my grandparents were married in the last year of world war 2. they traded food with the neighbor who owed a photo shop for a 8mm camera.
the method of transferring 8mm to any other media is really archaic. you have to literally project the footage, then record / film it from the projected image. you would think that there was some sort of drum scanner for moving images, or something, but there isnt.
so our guy’s dad was german and moved to this german settlement town in the states. he opens a photo shop and later kills himself.
when our protagonist move back to town he finds old 8mm film in the basement. using the method above starts transferring the footage. but then notices in the transfer that additional images of people are added. ghosts? or his ill fated experiments?
Michael Goldfarb Today at 1:19pm
no no no….
transferring the 8mm is a hassle…
so he uses HIS crazy imaging equipment, ‘cause it’s faster/better etc…but then he starts seeing his dad and the dead lab dude in the processed film…and then other people, customers of his re-opened photo-store, start coming in saying WTF? there are strangers in their shit…

and then 7 days later they die…

…or do they…
